FAITH. HOPE AND BELIEF.
This is one of the most confused things in the body of Christ. Many people do not know how to differentiate these three things. In as much as they are similar, they are very different.
I’ll start with belief:
1. BELIEF.
Exodus 4:4-5 says;
(KJV) “And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.”
(NLT) “Then the Lord told him, “Take hold of its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it became a shepherd’s staff again. “Perform this sign, and they will believe you,” the Lord told him. “Then they will realize that the Lord, the God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—really has appeared to you.”
Here, God showed Abraham what to do to prove to the people that He exists and He is real. It’s a sign from above that something has happened or something is real.
So, belief is an after product of faith.
In the sense that faith requires just blind belief. In faith, the substance is of something not seen. In the case of faith, there is no physical representation of what you believe in.
Rather, it’s an inner witness of what you know exists due to encounter or personal understanding.
Belief is good but belief doesn’t take you to heaven. Belief doesn’t verify you before God. Only faith does that.
2. HOPE.
Romans 8:24 says;
(KJV) “For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
“NLT) “Now that we are saved, we eagerly look forward to this freedom. For if you already have something, you don’t need to hope for it.”
This looks very much like faith but it isn’t. The bible called it hope, not faith. Our God is not a God of confusion. If He separated them, it means that they are different.
1 Peter 1:3 also says;
(KJV) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
(NLT) All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again. Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead.”
This is saying that the source of our hope is in the resurrection of Jesus. Him being resurrected means we’ll get to see Him again. So, our hope us that we see Christ again.
This means that hope is long term faith!
Faith is till death do us part but how is even in death!
3. FAITH.
We don’t need to dwell so much on this because it has been addressed in the previous blog post. If you haven’t read it, take a read: https://growingingrace.art.blog/2023/06/14/principles-of-faith/
So;
– Belief requires evidence.
– Hope is till the after life.
– Faith is till death do us part.
I hope you gained value today.
Enjoy your new week!
