JESUS IS KING!

Jesus Is King!

From the times of Abraham, sacrifices have existed. Different things (living & non-living) were used as sacrifices. Ranging from cows to goats to oxen and much more. All of these were required in large quantities and regularly as sacrifice to God.

These sacrifices were for different purposes; peace offering (Lev. 3), guilt offering (Lev. 4) etc. Without these offerings, people stood a high chance of untimely death or being under God’s wrath. These sacrifices were demanded/commanded.

Let’s paint a picture together, shall we?

Now, imagine yourself in those times. Having to buy a cow as an offering to God (especially in this time of economic ‘surplus’). Although the thought of buying it for God is thrilling, sooner than later, it would begin to take a toll on your finances.

Funny enough, these sacrifices didn’t lead to a reduction in sin present on Earth. Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (KJV)

Their hearts was still not wholly true to God, it was still in the crude form of wickedness. God would deliver them into the hands of their enemies in anger. They would cry out to Him again to save them and He will oblige them. Only to soon after return to their sin. God sent prophets but they took their heads instead.

God, in His anger, fulfilled His words in Jeremiah 16:9 ; 16:9 “For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.” (KJV)

For 400 years, heaven was quiet. During that period, evil prevailed on Earth. Though men like Anna and Simeon were present, God never spoke a word to a human. Books presumed to be part of the scriptures were written during this time (Book of Mary and lots more). However, they weren’t inspired by God.

Meanwhile, God was constructively planning our reconciliation. Can you imagine such love? Even in our sin, He still thinks for us.

Alas, He came to a conclusion. A part of Him had to go. Only He could pay the huge price required for our reconciliation.

John 1:1-4 says; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”. John 1:14 also says; “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (KJV)

It must have been too heartbreaking for God to let go of Himself but He had to, for you and me. It wasn’t fun but it was Jesus’ sacrifice for mankind. We committed the sin. God was the one hurt. Still, He wanted us back. And He paid the price to have us back. He split Himself up to show us the life He envisioned for us and to redeem us by His blood.

Before the time of silence and before Jesus came, prophesies existed that exposed His coming (Isaiah 53). These prophesies were another futile attempt of God to compel us to Holiness. Still, evil prevailed. That evil that was birted by the introduction of the choice of disobedience by the sin of Eve in the garden of Eden was still existent.

When the Messiah was birted, He opened a new chapter of faith and power. Although He was born in a manger and wrapped in swaddling clothes, the glory He carried was not hidden. Three wise men from the East and some shepards saw the glory and came to worship. Even Herod, the king felt threatened by His existence. Still, God’s wisdom prevailed.

The circumstances surrounding His birth is a mystery no one can understand. The life He led on Earth is one only a spiritual man can grasp. His glory is one that cannot be spoken of with levity. His legacy is one that has been unrivaled.

For these reasons and more do we choose to celebrate our source of eternal hope, Jesus Christ! He who paid the greatest sacrifice for us to have a life. To Him be all the power and glory forever. Amen!

Forever, Jesus is King. And He’s the reason for the season! Merry Christmas!
