The Art Of Speaking!

The Art Of Speaking!

After the God and man series, I got thinking; “What should we talk about? “. I then remembered this topic I’ve always wanted to address. This is one of the areas that Christians go wrong in addressing.

The greatest mode of communication of thoughts, intentions and feelings is through words of the mouth. The tongue, being the instrument of speech, is what the bible used as a metonymy for speech. Effective communication is done by the mechanism of the body structure called the tongue.

The tongue is a flexible muscular organ in the mouth that is used to move food around for tasting and that is moved into various positions to modify the flow of air from the lungs in order to produce different sounds in speech. A tongue can also refer to a language or fluency of speech or expression.

The tongue is a very essential tool in the body of a living being. Spiritually, it also has it’s impact. James 3:5 says; “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” (KJV).

The Scripture above speaks greatly of the downside of the tongue. Though its a small part of the body, it can wreck havoc. As small as it is, it is capable of destroying the entire body of a human. As I would always say; ‘Words kill faster than a bullet’. Someone might be wondering how that’s possible.

Words go into the ears, into the heart and penetrate even to the deepest part of the soul. Remember the scriptures say that we should be mindful of he who can kill the spirit and not the body. Words are employed by the devil to quench the flesh spirit. A gun or dagger is only capable of killing the physical body but words quench the spirit.

You would have met many people who would say ‘Because of what she said, I was discouraged and I couldn’t win the competition’. Such people have all it takes to be victorious but discouraging words weakened their resolve to winning. It’s not enough to be high in spirit. Also surround yourself with positive energy.

The bible makes a profound statement in James 3:9. It says; “Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.” (KJV). This is very popular in our world today; reckless talks that do not edify.

2 Timothy 3:16 says; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (KJV). The words from God are all PROFITABLE. Therefore, the words from His children must be PROFITABLE too. He made us his representatives and that we shall!

2 Timothy 2:16 says; “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” (KJV). This is addressing a crucial issue. Excessive talks!

Many people have sold out the secrets of their destiny by excessive talks. Many people have rendered themselves useless by talking too much. Many people have provoked irrelevant arguments with evil men that crippled their destiny by talking too much. Many people have told great lies that killed their destiny because of talking too much.

Many people have killed burdens that should have launched then to their next level by talking too much. Many people have killed the great destinies of other people by talking too much. Proverbs 13:3 says; “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” (KJV).

Talking is good. Talking is exciting. Talking is beautiful. If your talk doesn’t yield to righteousness, I suggest you stop talking because you will land yourself in a great sin or trouble. Talking is a mode of praising God but its also a tool for destruction by the enemy.

Talking is a mode evangelism but its also a way to put out the fire in the spirit of a man. A great man is always a man of secrets. You cannot have a loose tongue and a successful life. Every life is based on secrets. Even God is a person of secrets. If you cannot keep your mouth shut, you cannot fulfill purpose.

    Why?  Because before the fruit is ripe, you have already plucked it. Before the day of yoir ordination comes, you have already killed your glory by talking about tge secret holding it together. In the mist of all the evil speaking, the bible shows us many areas we can use our words for God’s glory;

1. Romans 10:10 says; “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (KJV). Confessing Jesus as Lord and savior is a mode of using one’s tongue to develop the faith of another. To confess with faith the Lordship of Christ over your life is a daily activity.

2. Romans 10:13 says; “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (KJV). With the life of Christ comes challenges of it’s own. Calling upon the name of the Lord is a sure way of obtaining victory over the wiles of the devil.

3. Romans 10:17 says; “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (KJV). Preaching Jesus can never be over emphasized! This is the reason you’re alive. This is the reason the Holy Ghost was sent; to help us witness Jesus to the world.

4. Ephesians 5:19 says; “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” (KJV). Praising God can never be old. Its the duty and responsibility of every child of God to worship.  We are made for worship!

5. James 5:16 says; “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (KJV). Prayer is the key to unlocking the supernatural. Prayer is a communication. Prayer is life. Prayer for the body of Christ ans for yourself is needed on a daily basis.

The power and potency of words is a broad topic that cannot be thoroughly explained in one post. However, if we have the principle of love is guiding our speech, there would be no need for too much talk. Romans 13:8 says; “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” (KJV).

When the gear of love is engaged, it is easy for positive communication to flow. When you are being controlled by love, sin because love is the fulfillment of all commandments. Love can never make you hurt another person either in words or actions.

Are you filled with love? Are you reflecting Jesus? If you aren’t, it’s a great time to start.
