WORSHIP.

WORSHIP.

Over the past few weeks, the subject of worship has been one I’ve been ruminating on. I was led to put all I was taught in writing. In this season, we must understand that worship is a necessity.

As a matter of fact, Abba has made a call for true worshippers. To be a true worshipper, we must understand what worship means. We must grasp the core of our duties in order to carry them out rightly. Without proper knowledge, mistakes are bound to happen.

First of all, we must understand that worship is not about a song. It’s not just about sounds. Worship is more about your entire life than a few minutes of singing. The ‘praise and worship’ mentality has been made us believe that worship is singing a slow song and praise is singing a fast song.

Whereas everything from your sounds to daily activities is encapsulated in one word; “Worship”.

    What then is Worship?

Worship means a condition of being worthy or honourable. Worship is the devotion accorded to a deity or sacred object. Worship is a religious ceremony that expresses devotion. Worship is to honor and adore a deity.  Worship is an ardent show of love to a person.

These meanings are sourced from a reliable dictionary. However, they could to some extent, properly grasp the concept of worship. The most popular definition known in the christaindom is that ‘Worship is a lifestyle’. As popular as it is, it is highly misunderstood. Many people use this saying but have no profitable understanding of it.

If we can categorically analyze the life of traditionalists, we would discover that they live their lives in complete fear of of the gods. They are not ashamed of their gods. From merely relating with them, you can sense how much they boast about their gods. They do everything to please their gods at the expenses of anyone.

This shows the depth of reverence they have for their gods. It shows the level of trust they put in their gods. They trust so much that they can even give their wives to their gods.

Whereas we who served the living God live our lives in disobedience, doubt and fear. When we are given tasks from heaven, we disobey. Maybe because God doesn’t decend from heaven and flog us.

We all have met people who are sacrificing their time and pleasures to secure a bright future. These people are driven by the future they have envisioned for themselves to sacrifice more.

John 4:24 says; “God is a spirit (a spiritual being) and those who must worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth(reality)” (AMP)

We must worship with our spirituality and we must worship with our character. We must reverence with our lips and we must reverence with our lives. We must adore with our hearts and we must adore with our strength. We must glorify with our sweet melodies and we must glorify in conduct.

When the bible says “do not lie”, we must do everything humanly possible to ensure we do not tell lies. When the father tells you “be still and see the salvation of the Lord unto you”, we must give up everything to ensure we do not break that stillness. When His spirit says “intercede”, we must waste away in the altar of intercession.

By all means, our lives must be a living testimony of the belief we hold in Christ Jesus. Our lives must minister the worship our lips sing. We must be patient, slow to speak, humble, peace loving, love filled and compassionate as Jesus as charged us to be. We must be as Jesus wants us to be; like Him.

Worship in songs is just about 30% of what worship entails. If you worship in songs and your life doesn’t replicate that worship, the song was just a form of entertainment and drama, not worship. Worship involves  spirituality (spirit) and truth (reality). Only words cannot qualify a living God. We ought to use our entire lives too.

Talking is cheap, thinking is cheaper but doing is the real deal. Remember, John 4:23 says; “A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true(genuine) worshippers will worship in spirit and in truth (reality); for the father is seeking after just such people as these as His worshippers”(AMP)

    Jah blesses you.
    Amen!
