Growth!

When looking at an infant, you begin to imagine and visualize how he or she would look like in the future. You begin to conceive ideas on possible professions that the child could could fall into. This is the process of looking into the future of the child. However, imagining wouldn’t bring it into realization. Growth will do the trick.

Growth is simply defined as an increase in size, number, value, strength or capacity of a thing or person. Growth is the process of getting bigger or higher. Growth is the process whereby a person or thing expands and gains greater capacity for optimum productivity. Growth means to outgrow or move past a certain level.

Change, they say, is constant. I’m of the opinion that growth should be constant too. Growth is a life long project. Therefore, there is no age limit for growth. Anyone can grow irrespective of their age. Growth isn’t only physical. Growth occur in the physical, mental and spiritual state of a person.

1. Physical Growth.

Although physical growth is important, spiritual and mental growth are of greater value. A time will come that the physical growth you have attained will hold no value to you again. This is due to the fact that tail end of physical growth is characterized by weakening bones, falling tooth and body wrinkles. All of this would be a great restriction to physical movement.

To grow physically, you would require; regular supply of balanced diets, exercise, adequate rest and drinking of lots of water. These tips cannot be negotiable. They are pertinent to the growth of a human being. Nevertheless, growth isn’t held by the unavailability of certain materials. Although growth without the materials would be staunted, it’s growth nonetheless.

2. Mental Growth.

Mental growth is of immense importance. It entails the reformation and rebranding of ideologies. This simply means that the way you think will experience a shift. You will be begin to have a renewed mindset. Your scale of preference will constantly be edited.

During this process, your character and way of life will undergo a transformation. You begin to act and react differently because of the change your mind is undergoing. From all indications, mental health is very necessary to everyone.

Growing mentally means being under an authority through which you receive mentorship and advice. Since character is a proof of your mental condition, you will be called to order based on the mistakes you have made character-wise.

No one is perfect 100%. However, we must understand that working towards perfection is a MUST. The walk of the Apostles of old wasn’t easy. Nevertheless, it was they way of growth and they trod there, rejoicingly.

2 Timothy 3:16 says; “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.”(NLT).

The scripture is another source of mental growth. The scripture give answers to questions that bother the human mind. All you have to do is STUDY.

3. Spiritual Growth.

This is another mind blowing and encounter filled kind of growth. This type of growth deals with your spirit man. Undergoing this kind of growth entails intentionality. It isn’t a kind of growth that comes unconsciously. It requires efforts and sacrifices.

To grow spiritually, dedication is a necessary tool. You just be dedicated and intentional about growing. Exercises like prayer, fasting, studying the word and many more are ways to grow spiritually. Yieldesnnss to the spirit of God and consecration helps to all guide you in what areas to venture into.

My focus here however, is on mental and spiritual growth. Hebrews 5:13&14; “And a person who is living on milk isn’t very far along in the Christian life and doesn’t know much about doing what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who have trained themselves to recognize the difference between right and wrong and then do what is right.”(NLT)

This means that someone who has little or poor resources cannot change. You’ll remain stagnant. This also reveals that your level of expertise will determine your level of value because God uses men of value not men who can speak alone.

This is fortunately the only your expertise will speak for you. For instance, a bike man cannot be asked to read. This is because he lacks the necessary ingredient for such and such task. If God sends you, he would provide all of new neded to accomplish such tasks.

St. Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”(KJV).

As the son of God, Jesus is expected to undergo growth or increase. Jesus didn’t achieve the level of growth he did by waiting the comforter. The Holy Spirit cannot instill growth. He can only engrave and anoint. He can only strengthen, he cannot install.

In as much as we honor the Holy Spirit, we must understand that He’s a guide not a giver. He’s partner not a philanthropist of growth. He will guide and help you attain growth. He will direct you and when you yield him, you receive more grace and anointing to do more. Which also in turn lead to growth.

Basically, it’s your hunger and dedication that produces growth. If you depend wholly on the Holy spirit for growth, you’re making a great mistake. The Holy spirit wouldnt take over your body and do what you don’t want to. He will simply guiding you. Just yield. In the end, you’ll receive the fruit of obedience (grace and anointing).

2 Peter 3:17&18, it says, “Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

Before these verses, Apostle Paul was exposing some ills of ignorance to the people. He explained to them to apply the value that he gives to them to avoid being distracted by sinful men. Afterwards, he explained that growth is necessary. This is for two reasons;

1. To avoid being deceived
2. To give glory to God.

In other words, growth helps to clear of spiritual cataract from peoples eye. It opens your eye and the foolishness of men. Without growth, we would probably living life based on a lie. This is because men must have lived it and taught it to is.

In a bid to have a better life, do not devalue the relevance of growth. Growth would take you on a journey of no return. Growth would expose you to the world beyond you.
