God And Man V!
Scattered all over the Bible is the word, ‘MAN’. This word is present in every chapter, depicting the existence of a living being. A man is a living being regardless of gender (i.e; male or female). The word ‘Man’ refers to all humans collectively (as used in the scriptures). However, the concept of man in terms of spirituality goes beyond this.
A man is a creation of God. A man is an expression of God. A man is likened unto a portal through which God can be revealed. A man is a god on Earth. This isn’t blasphemy. For example, anyone looking at your mother and father should be able to tell that you are there child in either appearance or other things(i.e; style of walking etc.). Therefore, it would be very right for me to call you Timothy Jnr. (if your father’s name is Timothy) because you look like a smaller version of him.
This is exactly how it is between God and man. This is the kind of relationship God envisioned for Himself and man. At the fall of man in the garden of Eden, the vision was broken. It was no longer possible for man to be compelled to relate with God. This is due to the presence of choices that the fruit of knowledge of good and evil created. With the knowledge of another truth, man was presented with the option of disobeying God.
This situation was finally remedied at the death and Resurrection of Jesus. His blood was the medium of reconciliation since no living being could pay so huge a price. Sadly, His death and resurrection didn’t eradicate the choice that the fruit eaten at the garden of Eden created. Man still has the option of choosing good or evil. Rather, His death created a path of Grace and mercy thereby separating the concept of man into three subdivisions;
1. The Natural Man.
This is a crude man that is not sanctified by the blood. The scripture regards them as ‘Infidels’. He is a creation of God but he doesn’t uphold the tenates of ‘Christainity’. Neither is he sanctified by the blood and filled with the spirit that certifies sonship.
Genesis 6:5&6 says; “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (KJV).
This is the characteristics of a natural man and the position of the heart of God towards them. The natural man lives his life without the truth. He lives with wickedness and the crude nature at heart(Jeremiah 17:9 says; “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (KJV) ).
2. The Carnal Man.
Galatians 3 verse 3 says something that deserves thinking; “Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” (KJV).
When a man is saved, he receives santification by the blood, justification and salvation by faith. He then receives the gift of the Holy Spirit and works towards His activation in him. By the help of the spirit and his personal yieldedness, his heart, character and disposition is conditioned to the class of the spirit.
A Carnal Man is a man that has the Spirit and power of God but no behavioural proof of the spirit. His character is synanimous to that of a natural man; prideful, bitter, jealous, malice banker and many more. A Carnal Man can be very powerful but his lifestyle on a daily basis doesn’t preach Jesus. This is because he refused to yield the spirit and work on his character. Therefore, expressions of the flesh is still found in him.
3. The Spiritual Man.
Psalm 1:1&2 says; “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.'(KJV). Romans 8:14 says; “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (KJV).
These scriptures examplify the life of a spiritual man. A spiritual man is a person who is wholly true to God, completely enslaved by the spirit of God, addicted to the word and reflects the life of God in power and in character. A spiritual man is a man that love God. A spiritual man is a broken man.
A spiritual man has the mind of God as said in Philippians 2:5; “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” (KJV). A spiritual man is a man that is dead to the flesh and filled with the spirit of truth.
Galatians 2:20 says; “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (KJV).
A spiritual man is a simple man. He lives up to the simplicity of Christ. He is a man craving Jesus and not flesh things. He is a man embodying a teachable and humble spirit.
What kind of man are you?
Happy New Month! It’s December again! Keep glowing in Jesus!
